Feel the Beats is is somewhat picky about its sound files. Most mp3 files will work with ther charter. The size and sampling rate only matter when you test the chart in the player or submit the chart. Files must be under 8mb when you submit the chart. The submit page says that 10mb is the max size. Ignore that. Files that are too big will attempt to upload and then refresh the page on completion. Only 11.025kHz, 22.05kHz, and 44.1kHz sampling rates are accepted. Files with other sampling rates will cause the music the play at different speeds, output a bunch of noise to your speakers, or not play at all. The submit page will usually reject files if they don't have the proper sampling rate.
If your chart fails to submit, refer to the red error text at the top when the page refreshes. If no error is given, the mp3 file is too big or has an invalid sampling rate. It needs to be re-encoded/resampled.
Here are two simple ways to convert your files using foobar and audacity.
foobar
1. Download the latest stable version of foobar HERE.
2.Install it. You can choose to run it after it finishes installing if you like.
3.Download the LAME encoder HERE. If you are unsure of what to download, any of those should work. If not, just download the first one.
4.Extract the contents of this file somewhere you can easily navigate to.
5.Open foobar if you don't already have it open.
6.Click File > Add files... and select the file(s) you want to convert. Alternatively, you can drag the file(s) you want to convert from your explorer window into the empty space.
7.Right click the file in the list. In the dropdown, select Convert > Convert.... If you want to convert multiple files, click and drag to make your selection, then right click.
8.Click "Output format" on the right side under Current settings.
9.Click the "Add New" button.
10.Select MP3(LAME) as the encoder. As for the quality, make it less than what the original file was. Click "OK". You can check the mp3's properties to get its current bitrate.
11.Select the new format settings you just made and click "Back".
12.Click the "Save <<" button to add the new settings to the presets on the left.
13.Select a preset and click "Convert" at the bottom.
14.Choose where you want to save your file.
15.Locate lame.exe from the file you extracted in steps 3 and 4. You will only need to do this the first time you convert a file.
Audacity
1.Go HERE for download and installation instructions.
2.Open audacity.
3.Click File > Add files... and select the file you want to convert. Alternatively, you can drag the file you want to convert from your explorer window into the empty space.
4.Click File > Export....
5.Click the "Options..." button.
6.The bitrate mode should be "Constant". As for the quality, make it less than what the original file was. You can check the mp3's properties to get its current bitrate. Select "Stereo" for the channel mode. Click "OK".
7.Choose where you want to save your file.
If you have any problems, you probably don't know how to use a computer.
